I wish I thought of this back when our neighbors had a the most lights on the island.

Another basic, easy-to-understand explanation of what's going on. A few minor points of difference: one being that there is another way to face the debt other than inflation, and that is default. (Though inflation is more likely.) Watch it.

We saw some primitive conditions in Hong Kong, but nothing like this. You'll never say that your house is too small again. (Scroll down for the video.)

This one's for the guys, especially Eric Peterson. (I just don't get why someone would do this, but I guess it's proof that I'm not male…)

Why would a man want to launch anvils in the air in his spare time? Because not everyone is smart enough to launch rockets for money. But I bet people would pay good money to be in Greg’s seat for a launch.

Amy,
I know you don’t have a lot of time on your hands but I was wondering if you could help me with something. Recently, or not so recent, you had a link to a graph that showed where we were now, in months, compared to the Great Depression. It is very similar to the graph you have in this link post. I keep trying to explain to my husband how we are mirroring the Great Depression but I can’t find your link or the graph to help show him what I am talking about. Any ideas about what date that way? I went back several pages but I can’t even remember what the title of the link was.
Thanks either way,
Ouida Gabriel

Amy, I’m asking this seriously and respectfully, not rhetorically. (Please remember that I’m foreign, Catholic, and don’t know a whole lot about the States.) Do you . . . really consider Glenn Beck an authority? On, like, anything? I’ve always genuinely assumed that he was just a performer of some sort, a kind of right-wing clown. Surely there are more intelligent, considered views of things on the right side of the conservative spectrum? You’re so sensible and fair yourself, I’m just genuinely puzzled. And how do you feel about Limbaugh?
Again, not trying to be provocative–genuinely puzzled.

Mrs. P,
No, I don’t consider Glenn Beck an authority. He’s not even a journalist, just an entertainer.
Simply, there’s nobody else on TV or radio pointing out the corruption. I already link to fact-based economic blogs. If there was someone else pointing out what the government is doing to us, I’d link them too.
Warmly,
Amy

This is what the left (and many on the right) want you to believe, so you can dismiss his arguments out of hand before listening to what he’s saying. “Right-wing clown” is a personal attack used by the media, designed to shoot the messenger because the message he brings is the truth.

Phew.
And I’m pretty sure that your lower crime rate has everything to do with Amish ethics and principles, and nothing to do with the preponderance of guns. :-) If you had a much more secular population around you, you’d find, at the very least, more people dying of accidental gunshot wounds (related to drunken arguments, so-called crimes of passion, etc.).
Yes, yes, I know–that was a joke, too! Jeez. I’m not THAT thick. I think. :-D
