After my big blog naming contest got off the ground, I opened this email the next day:

I just came across your web site. What really appealed to me was the title of your blog…

Words fail me.

Thanks to everyone who emailed and commented.

But who is the winner? Now, that’s a little tricky because I’ve decided to keep Amy’s Humble Musings. [The crowd cheers.] But awarding myself a prize is kind of tacky. You all have stalked my site, waiting for me to throw a bone, so I feel compelled to award the FREE book to somebody.

Here are the runner-ups:

Rogier—by virtue of being the first to comment and suggest that I keep the name. But, no, he’s in the Netherlands, and I don’t want to pay for shipping. I can’t do it. Sorry, pal.

Rev. Ed and Kristen—just because I like a good laugh.

Todd—for thinking that I could get away with “A Wife of Noble Character.” I think Todd should get a consolation prize just because he always writes nice comments, even if I don’t deserve them.

Steve—I liked “Family Matters” until a show from the 90’s seized my memory.

Molly—disqualified because she didn’t read the rules.

Jesse—nice try.

Carmon—I was thinking she should win because she was the first to give me permission to change the name. But then, I saw this post and thought she should be giving me a book. Yeah, I’m bitter.

Sal, Sherry, and Paula–honorable mention for the sheer volume of suggestions.

But, the winner is (drum-roll, please)…………………

Valerie with It’s Not Rocket Science. Now, I’m not using it because all the .com addresses are taken, and I don’t want something convoluted or ending in .net. Valerie wins simply because she had a good suggestion. I’m actually going to have a chance to meet her in person next month at a conference. Pretty cool. So, pick a book, Valerie, and I’ll deliver it in person.

You know how I feel about shipping and handling.
