Living under the sun

I attended a funeral this morning for an older woman in our church. Upon my return, I couldn’t help but think that it is a good thing that we ponder our mortality on regular occasion. I have no guarantee that it will not be me sitting in the family’s front row next weekend, donning all black apparel instead of the navy suit I wore this time. And furthermore, it could be my grave for which all the flowers are bought.
Since our lives our fleeting vapors, it is good that we spread God’s glory enthusiastically and love one another wholeheartedly…while we can. In other words, work while it is still light.

I totally agree. It is so easy to push aside that we don’t know how long our life will be here on earth. Thanks for reminding ne that we should really really glorify God all the time in all we do!

The simplest blog I read today. But the one I will remember most. . . .

I had a moment like that a few months back when a fellow home school mom died from cancer at the age of 42. I’m learning the importance of numbering my days, that I would have a heart of wisdom.

We are watching a friend walking through this valley right now. He was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor the week before Christmas. He is currently in a wheelchair and often can’t even remember his own children’s names. He is the father of 8, and airline pilot, 42 years old, and a Christian. Truly a year ago no one would have even imagined that this man would be where he is today. Sobering very sobering.
