When I say that I’m “missing in action,” it is really only a half-truth. I’m missing from general life, but it’s not because of any action on my part. Rather, my absence is due to inaction or whatever you might call lying on the couch with a bucket in hand.
I was afforded a nice break recently. Friday morning, I loaded the kids in the car and made a couple hour trip to meet about 8 or 9 ladies that I’d previously only known online. I am part of a wonderful large online community of women known as MOMYS, which stands for Mothers of Many Young Siblings. To qualify for the group, you must have at least four children in eight years or less. (Women who don’t “qualify” are welcome to join as a read-only member.) MOMYS discuss many topics, but some things are particular to MOMYS-type families and only understood by those who have walked that way or are currently in the trenches: 15-passenger van models, color coding for organization, and where to find dining room tables that will fit your whole family. It is also the only place where I can announce our fifth baby is on the way and still be seen as a novice.
So, while I was delighted to have enough relief to make the daytrip, I more than made up for it yesterday. Hopefully, however, maybe the trend will continue with little breaks in the sickness. If so, this will be a first.
While I’ve enjoyed meeting a large amount of online friends, there are still at least a dozen I’m hoping to meet one day soon.

I was a part of the MOMYs oline group years ago 1998-2000. Then the life of being a mommy took over and my participation dwindled down some. It was alot of fun. I have often thought of planning an little mini conference here in MI for folks. There are a few bloggers nearby.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.

A new fifteen-passenger van is one of the top prioritites for our family right now.
Mommy wants to paint it with polka-dots just to get away from all the white.
Glad to hear that you are having a baby! How sweet and wonderful…
Blessings, Gracie

Amy - do tell who you got the pleasure of meeting! I love MOMYS!!

OK, you asked for names, but I’m so afraid to do that because I am very sure that I can’t name them all. I’ll just use their last initial, as you probably already know who they are if you scan your digests regularly. Plus, I want to protect their identities in case they don’t want to admit to knowing me.

That’s great, Amy! I’ve also loved the fellowship and help from the momys club even though I have a small bunch with just four under four! It’s a small world wide web after all! God bless
P.S. Congrats on your fifth!

I used to be on the Momys list- Five of our seven were born between within seven years. I had four teenagers at once.=)

Thanks for the link. I haven’t been married long enough to qualify as a MOMYS, but I do have two under the age of two at the moment. I look forward to reading what other moms do and what I probably have to look forward to in a few years.

Hope your sickness clears up, or at least lets you function again soon.

Just wanted to say that it doesn’t matter how many and what ages they are at the web site–you can post on forums and come and chat!
I rarely post on digest anymore–its faster to post on forums.
Glad you had a break Amy!

Amy, I’m in a similar boat! I’m pregnant with our 5th that is due in February, and my 4 children are 7 and under. My morning sickness has been pretty bad too. My OB put me on Zofran last week, and that seems to be helping quite a bit. With past pregnancies, I had taken Phenergan, but that just knocks me out cold! Zofran makes me a little tired, but it’s definitely possible to stay awake. Of course, it make just be pregnancy-tired and not medication-tired.
Glad to hear that you were able to get together with other MOMYS! I would love to go on one of the week-long vacations that they have sometime!
Hope you’re feeling better soon!

That’s great that you met some Momys! I’m so sorry you are feeling putrid. That is just so hard. (I know.) Spunky was supposed to come and see me last Sunday, then…chickened out or something.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
I am a new blogger. It is great to learn about all these great resources. You can call me Snow White. I have seven children 16, 14, 13, 12, 10, 6, and a 3 1/2 yr old. People used to refer to my family as the Brady Bunch, but now it’s more like Seventh Heaven. I would love to join a MOMY’s blog. Do I qualify with my tribe? hehe
By the way, I had severe morning sickness with the third and no rememdy I was recommended worked for me. I sure hope you have better luck.
Be blessed!
