Buzz…try again, Humble Muse

How many writers can claim that they’ve had 100% of the articles they’ve submitted for publication published? In keeping with the humble theme of this site, I’d like to point out that I can now claim this status. Yes, I’ve had every single one of my articles published. Yep, all one of them.
I won’t point out that I wrote the humbling thing ( —-link is now expired—- ) seven years ago, and that it took the magazine this long to run out of good things to publish. Yes, it took them seven years to find a spot for it. No, it’s not the cover story. It didn’t even make it in the back small-print articles. It’s worse than that. It’s a web article, but my husband assures me that it still counts. In this day and age, anyway.
It took me about ten minutes to find it, and I knew it was posted.
Even with professional editors, my yet-to-be honed writing shines through. But, give me a break. How would you like it if I printed something you wrote seven years ago? I’ve noticed some bloggers won’t even list their archives from the last several months.
It’s just as well, though, as I’m always on the lookout to justify my lame blog title. As my latest malady keeps my posture bent low, it is only fitting that my spirit should follow suit.

“How many writers can claim that they’ve had 100% of the articles they’ve submitted for publication published?”
Lest you become too cocky, I’ll point out that I’ve got a better percentage. I have submitted two articles and had 4 published. One actually comprised an entire chapter of a book and I only found out about it when I bought the book. So anyways, I’ve 4 for 2 or something like that.
But don’t let this make you feel any worse about your mere 100%.

Amy,
Congratulations on being a published author. That’s quite an accomplishment. And yes, a web article definately counts towards author status.
So now you’re mother, wife, blogger AND published author. The accolades keep piling up. You go girl.

LOL. How about this (since we seem to be in not so humble a mood around here.) LOL. How about getting published when you didn’t even submit the article. That just happened a few days ago. Someone read something on my blog and then asked me to publish it. I was even more surprised when I read who else was selected. You can see it here.

Amy - the beautiful thing is that despite the 7 year review period, the truths remain.
Oh, and 7 is a good number. *wink*

Incidentally, everything I’ve ever submitted via my blog has been published, so I’ve a nice running total going… Or are we not counting the fact that Wordpress post submit button says “Publish”? ‘Cause if we’re not, I’m 0 for 0, maintaining a cool 100% right along side you.

that’s great! Good piece, too.

Wow, that’s great, Amy. (Although, I do think the “magazine” is a little slow. You’re kidding, right? Seven years? They still HAD it?) Interesting….
As a slight aside…how does one eat collard greens? I saw you mention them at Kristen’s site. I just planted some…and…don’t know what to do with them if they grow.

Sorry about that. I didn’t mean to post anonymously. That was me posting that first comment.
I have been published in Clarion Magazine, Reformed Perspectives Magazine and in The Southside Messenger. And I apparently contributed a chapter to a book written by David Cloud, though I only found out when I bought the book. That was something of a surprise.

Tim,
Man, if I’d known it was you, I would’ve been more clear. ROFLOL=Rolling on the floor, laughing out loud.

Cindy,
What gives? I’d love to see it!! (Of course, I’m sure you made it to print, though, so you can’t just link me up…
) We left the C&MA, but not because of any ruckus. I still hold fond affections for the C&MA. Now, I happen to know, Cindy, that that first article of yours wasn’t the last. You’re a published author in a few places, you are.

Yes, Amy, opinionated, yet humble, people can get published in some of the weirdest publications
I have been published in more than one offbeat place.
My Alliance Life article was way before the internet. I still have a copy, of course, not on any hard drive but out in my garage in a box somewhere.
And some of my best friends are C&MA…

Amy Jo, you shore do crack me up! That is a fun site. I think I will remove the bones and pick through the meat before I add the greens. Thanks, honey ‘chile.

Enjoyed your Article, Amy. The only thing I ever had published (other than my blog and some reviews online) has been a poem - but it was one of those schemes to buy a really expensive book… and I was about 17 and poor - so I couldn’t afford to even buy the book!
