Excuses, excuses…

I know it’s Monday, and I know that I’d post something here about my “new series” if I were a dedicated blogger. But it’s the time of day that all stay-at-home-moms of babies and preschoolers long for, wait for, and count the minutes until: the all-treasured naptime/quiet time. Cue trumpet fanfare and break-out the secret stash of chocolate.
But…have I mentioned yet that I’m sick? Anyone?
I keep thinking, “Only two and a half week until it gets better…” I refuse to consider anything of a longer sort. If you think I’ll post more often then, you’re wrong. (Home)school is gearing up, and I’ve got a lot to catch up on in the house. How would your house look if you laid on the couch for weeks? Sure, the counters are wiped clean, but I double-dare anyone to set foot in the walk-in pantry, the storing house of all junk when the doorbell rings.
Yes, and I hear that there’s a snake under the oven. (I’m suspecting, though, that it’s a lizard.) I don’t make this stuff up.
As I was saying, it’s quiet-time. And just for today, I’m going to lay here on the couch and be quiet. After I grab my chocolate.

Um, so, Amy, is it _your_ job to retrieve the, uh, reptile under the stove? And is it supposedly a living reptile or a reptile that has shuffled off this mortal coil and gone on to its reptilian reward?

A lizard - or a snake - would cause me to promptly move out! And my daughter’s one and only nap today HAD to be taken in my arms. She’s doing this “don’t-leave-my-sight-or-let-me-out-of-your-arms-or-i-might-die” thing lately. So I envy your quiet time. And your chocolate. Though I’m not sick and pregnant and only have one daughter, so I think you’ve well earned both - the chocolate and rest, not the sick and pregnant. Anyway….

That dancing gecko on tv is kinda cute, but under the stove — he’s outta here! Enjoy your nap, Amy.

great science lesson that snake/lizard. they eat mice, if it is a snake. maybe you should keep it.
neither eat chocolate

Once again, I feel the need to point out that snakes are to be thoroughly and heartily stomped under our heels (being careful to not let said heel get bitten in the process, a la the curse of mankind).
I am not afraid of snakes…my little brother used to make *me* pick up the garter snakes in our backyard when we were little.
No fear…just a big case of the blech’s when I hear about ‘em. Now a lizard…I wonder if that’s a different story…we have lots of them around outside!
Your life is a huge adventure, Amy. Wow. Blessings on you as you figure THIS one out!
(And have a bit of chocolate for me…I have NONE in the house right now…*sigh*)

And I thought I was the only one who ate chocolate at nap time!

Hope it works out with the reptile under the stove, and that you feel better sooner not later.

Hey Laura–my daughter is having a week like that also–not so much having to stay in my arms since she’s extremely mobile lately, but she screamed during my entire shower this morning. I thought we were past that now that she’s turned 1. ugh
Amy, who needs a new series anyway? just keep resting!

Nesting instinct is the antidote to morning sickness. By the time baby is born your house will shine.

*lol* The lizard sounds like fun! We have a lot of them around our place, sometimes inside (most often inside when my husband brings them in to show my daughter-she’s one and I think she thinks they’re food)
I’m felling spoiled if your little ones are taking a nap already today. That means they mucct have gotten up really early/ (my little one slept in till 9:30 today. Praise be to God) I am enjoying the time of always getting to sleep when she does before number 2 gets here and they nap at different times.
Enjoy your rest and especially your chocolate. Well earned I believe.

Amy - I’m with you. The house is not ACTUALLY falling in, but… Well, let’s just say I’d better get off the couch soon:)

Funny, I read your blog this afternoon as I sat down during our rest time w/ the little pint of Godiva chocolate ice cream my sweet mother in law dropped off this morning. She did this frequently during my last pregnancy, too, and I had a 10 lb., 10 oz. baby! So I recommend the ice cream, just not a pint every week or so…
You’ll be better soon… I’ve rounded the curve into trimester 2, and didn’t take one single nap today! Hang in there.

Hello, Just checking in before I retire for the night. My husband lifted up the stove, but alas, no reptile. We saw a nice opening behind the cabinets, though, that we suspect he’s hiding in. Just so long as it doesn’t DIE back there. *sigh*
Meg, I heard you broke your arm. Are you healing up well or are you typing one-handed?
Tiffany, Even if my kids stay up until midnight, they still wake up at dawn without fail, which is 6:30 a.m. currently. No exceptions unfortunately.

Our reptile hid under the refrigerator for weeks. At lest, I presume that’s where the snake was all the time he was missing. That’s where he turned up anyway. Alive.
