New shoes

Baby Energizer got shoes yesterday. They are big red clunkers. My husband said that they were the only ones in the store that would fit. Well, at least he found a store that had one pair, as I’ve struck out at all the other stores. Her feet are just too wide for even the wide-widths.
So, it was 9:30 at night, and we were all hootin’ and hollerin’ at Baby Energizer as she tried to walk in her new shoes. They were strange on her feet, and she had trouble getting the pattern just right for walking. When she managed a few steps, we all cheered like a Super Bowl crowd. I think the neighbors wonder about us. But what I wonder is, what is there on TV that is possibly more entertaining than a house full of kids?

What is there on TV more entertaining than a bunch o’ wee ones? Doubtless nothing - but with TV, you get commercial breaks, and can mute the sound, too!

If she has wide feet I have the shoes for you. I just ordered a bunch of the “Cute Baby Shoe” brand (like Robeez) from this website http://www.cutebabyshoes.com And I ordered the next size up from what my little girl was wearing (BD 6/10/04) and they are a lot wider and taller than the Robeez. They also have this whole section called seconds where they sell shoes that are supposedly flawed for $6 instead of the usual $25. I bought 7 pairs and I can’t find a single flaw on them. Maybe those would work for Baby energizer? I too have the wide feet which makes it so hard to find shoes. I love payless wide widths. She’ll have to shop there when she’s older.

Our kids are grown and gone now, but here comes Max, our three year old grandson. Now that’s a good time! He is a riot, as he tries to understand the world and puts the funniest spin on things. He can morph into a cat, a dog, a snake, a skateboarder or Spiderman in the blink of an eye. He’s better than TV any day.

I love watching them try to figure out shoes. Such fun! Kidlettes are way better than TV!

See, like, THAT is what it’s all about. You put new shoes on your child. Everybody gets excited and cheers like nutty dodo-heads. Of course, the neighbors wonder about you. But they probably are a little jealous too because your fun is organic and with no unnatural flavorings. (That wasn’t the outlawed red dye in the red shoes, was it?)

That’s great! When we hear, “children are a blessing,” we think, okay they’ll take care of us in our old age. Who knew keeping us laughing everyday was part of the deal?! Every night, my husband and I play “Who was cutest today?” Always manages to end in a four way tie somehow!
P.S. I’ve learned that velcro sandals are great when their feet are wider than they are long. My one year old is in her first shoes and is just the same.
Mommy to four, five and under.

Yes, Amy, do post a picture of those baby feet, particularly in the big red shoes!
And just so you know–not all of us kidless people have TV (we don’t).
Some of us read and stuff, too!

HI,
Just wanted you to know that I enjoy your blog greatly!! I have always said to my husband “why do we need t.v. when you’ve got little ones?”. I get a kick out of my kids. They are always doing something funny!!!
God bless and would love to see pics!!!

Funny! I was writing my post today about my blessings… and I wrote that my husband and I always say that with kids, who needs TV?
Glad to see that you agree! HORRAH for BABY ENERGIZER!

Oh, on shoes. Both of our older children were measured for shoes and both needed EEE widths - which you cannot even order from an orthopedic shoe specialty shop. HOWEVER, we discovered that moccasins are easy to make, always give a custom fit, and do not take months on backorder (while the child happily outgrows the shoes she was fitted for!) Most of the really good how-to books on shoe-making were made in the 70’s and are, erm, easy to spot at the library. Tandy Leather is a great source for comfortable soft buckskin for little ones’ shoes. Might be worth a shot.
