The red shoes
Thursday, Aug 25, 2005
We recently painted our front door. Red is my favorite color because it says, “Hello and welcome!”
Can you find her ankles?
Here are my older three children. This was taken when we were in California. Flowers like these do not grow in Florida. (I guess the mountains are a give away too…) Our oldest is a boy and the only boy, so when asked if he is hoping for a baby brother next time, he replies, “I’d like a brother so I can share my room, but I’ll love a girl too. If we have another girl, I’m going to have my hands full [protecting them].” With each passing day, I see a little more and more that my boy is becoming a young man.

Amy,
Love the shoes! You should check out the website for Robeez (www.robeez.com). My little guys have wide feet too and these shoes a great for new walkers because they are really soft and flexible.

Amy,
Adorable! And your son sounds SOOO sweet!!
My son is the only boy amongst 4 girls. People always say, “I bet he hopes this next one is a boy!!” He would like a brother, but it’s not like he’ll be devasted if it’s a girl. I wish people wouldn’t make that comment so much!
Comment by Connie (August 25, 2005 @ 5:54 pm )
I agree about those comments. For a while my boy was the only one in 4 girls (the boys have caught up from behind now though) and people used to comment, “poor guy.” Ugh.
But those shoes are WAY TOO CUTE! I like robeez too for fat little feet, but they aren’t so sturdy for outside play. She looks like she is full of spice!

I checked out the website suggested here and on the last post. Thanks everyone! Notice how the shoes are two sizes too big and socks won’t fit on her feet? We’ll have to try some soft shoes.
As for Baby Energizer having some spice…she is the mildest, sweetest, gentlest baby ever. My fireball is another kid; my husband calls her a little version of me.

Absolutely adorable Amy! You are blessed.

Who needs ankles with a sweet smile like hers!
My son said something similar, he’s excited to share his room with a brother (even though he’ll be 10 sharing with a 1 yr. old) but he would love a baby sister too. You have precious kiddos!

In our family we call those “cankles.” You know, where the calves and ankles blend together.

I love red doors, too. Your girlie has such cute little shoes! I love the photo of your older children… definitely one for the wall.

What a darling comment by your son. Sounds like a great kid. Lovely pictures. Red is a nice color!

I love those fat babies!!!!!!
*goes off to snuggle the latest baby chunker*
PS–I want to paint my front door red, too, and for the same reason (it’s such a welcoming color for a door)…

I make three votes for red doors:) My house is pale yellow though so I’m debating.
The shoes are darling! My littlest won’t keep any shoes on her feet. She even walks around at church barefoot - my preacher loves that “she makes herself at home!”
I’d love to hear more about how y’all have encouraged that protective spirit in your son. That’s something I really want for my son - I always wanted a big brother to look out for me!

Too Cute, Amy!! Isn’t there a song about a red door? Can’t remember….
Comment by Lyn (August 26, 2005 @ 8:50 pm )
I love her smile! So much life is in that smileand it’s so with out effort. I wonder where it goes? I would love a red door. My house has “cactus” siding on it, so it changes from blue/grey, to grey to grey/green, depending on how the sun hits it. So a red door would look fantastic! But, my husband HATES the color red. He doesn’t even like any of us wearing it. sigh…. I really like red.

Cute, Cute, Cute! They’re all just too cute! And, now Baby Energizer has welcoming feet!
(My 6 yr old calls ankles “neckles.” She can never remember what they are called.

My kids all loved the pictures! How those babies sure do grow! #10 is finally walking!

Hello, Amy! Just stopped by from the WTM list and had to say something about those precious red shoes and that wonderful young man with a respect for the women in his life. That is beautiful.
We are expecting our fourth child in January. The boys are thrilled, although the consensus is split pretty well on whether they’d like a baby brother or sister. Our oldest would love to have a sister to cherish and protect. It warms my heart to see other young men with a similar heart.
LOVE the mountains!

I too love red. My living room is painted red and my kitchen is black and white and red. The upstairs fanily room is yellow with black and red accents. I cant get enough of it. Those are darling little shoes and ankles on that baby. Bless her.

Red, very interesting that you said it is welcoming.
I was in Beijing, China recently and bought a round red dragon rug for my entry way.
Our Chinese guide told us that
-Red keeps away the devils, therefore, it was a good choice for the entry way.
- Dragon is good luck.

The red door picture is adorable! She looks like she’s saying “Come on in and have some iced tea!”

New Shoes
Although the official kick-off for fall is a few weeks away, the subtle change in the air is already taking place. Temperatures are cooling off - especially at night. Trees won’t change for a while, but that oppressive Virigina heat…
