Another use for dental floss: once while backpacking my husband and I got the rope for hanging the food (to keep it away from the bears) hung up in a tree. So what were we going to do? We used dental floss! It was incredibly strong and allowed us to "racoon bag" - rather than "bear bag" - our food. In other words, it was only hung about 4 feet in the air rather than the normal 20 feet or so. :-)

Nah, this sounds much more interesting then normal games, I remember the homemade toys were much more fun then the regular ones.

I also understand dental floss can be useful for slicing particularly delicate and/or messy cakes that would be ruined by a knife. (I learned this while attempting to slice a Boston cream and doing a very bad job of it with a knife.)

I was wondering where my old tin of floss went. It was in my big leather bag last I looked; how'd you get it?

This reminds me of "On the Banks of Plum Creek" that my daughter has listened to a zillion times. Such a big deal over a button string! And so much more powerful of a memory to build than a video game. Who cares about 'virtual reality' when we have actual reality?

I'm with you - no real toys. That sounds like fun... I have been meaning to get a button box for my kids. When I get around to it I think I'll give them some floss with it. ;)
