Work is good, even if it’s a lot
Tuesday, Nov 8, 2005
With Mount NeverRest still waiting for me to scale it, I am putting aside more leisurely activities in order to accomplish the feat. (For the male readership, there was a reference to laundry in that sentence.) When Mom is sick (see last entry), everything just backs up. The work ahead makes you wish you were still in bed, but good health is always preferable to sickness, even if that sickness presents an excuse not to accomplish anything.
But it is good work, and that makes for a good life.

This dad is familiar with laundry, and so are his oldest 3 children
Glad to see you’re feeling somewhat better.

Oh, I know about that Mountain. I didn’t realize the sick thing is why mine grew the way it did. We are regaining health here too but very slowly.

I don’t know what age your children are, but when I was 11 ish my mum presented me with a laundry basket….and that was that! Having said that, the ironong pile just grew twice as fast!

Laundry is life….i commonly find myself saying “Darn that EVE”….everytime i have to throw in another load of wash….although it’s not the washing that’s so bad it’s the folding IMHO. and it’s amazing how much MORE there is to fold when all of it is sooo small…..

Must be something about the name “Ron” as this dad is intimately familiar with the laundry duties. My in-laws are impressed I even know how to sort the stuff properly.
Glad you’re feeling well enough to do laundry, though truth be told I’m not sure that’s the best motivation for regaining one’s health.

I like this poem by Sally Huss. I have it hung in my laundry room which changes my attitude at times when the task seems so overwhelming.
Dirty laundry reminds me that someone has worked,
someone has played, someone has eaten, someone has slept,
someone has enjoyed their day just as they will tomorrow,
if someone like me takes care of what they have to wear
