Why I’m scarce

If a newborn isn’t enough to keep one busy, the washing machine began making very loud sounds this week. It turns out Someone-Who-Will-Remain-Nameless left a marble in his pocket. The washing machine took many hours over the course of a few days to dis- and reassemble. Here’s the front loader that sat in the middle of my kitchen this week:
Now, my husband is working on the broken ice maker. We already checked for foreign objects, but that’s not the problem this time. Thankfully, we can do without an ice maker for awhile…but only because I’m not expecting right now.

That’s a beautiful little man you have there!
Don’t be too hard on him for leaving a marble in his pocket. You know how newborns love their marbles!

He is adorable!

Hello Amy…
I don’t think that I’ve ever commented on your blog before…but I’ve enjoyed reading it for awhile now. But today the pictures of your adorable little one prompted a comment…he’s absolutely precious!
Comment by Jessica (March 24, 2006 @ 1:43 pm )
He sure looks like he is sleeping hard! Hope he’s having sweet dreams.
And I know all about those foreign objects in appliances. Last week I retrieved 3 huge nails from the dryer. I was watching a movie and they were too noisy rolling around in there. I thought it was overalls.
We also seem to enjoy washing bouncy balls, crayons, rocks, marbles, tissues, pencils, money, happy meal toys, and various other things. The trick for me is to catch them before they hit the dryer.

Oh how sweet! I miss the smell of a newborn.

Do you need the ice machine when you are pregnant because you crave ice. I always did…it was one sure way for me to know I was pregnant again. I believe it is actually a sign of iron deficiency. Babies are wonderful!

Wow!! Did your husband take apart your washer? I am so impressed. Oh, and your babe is beyond cute. In my house our children call babies “little smooshies”- you know, because you just want to smoosh them!

Such a sweet baby boy!
I love reading your blog!

So, what did you do with the marble?
You have a beautiful son Amy. Congrats again!
Comment by Tim (March 24, 2006 @ 4:08 pm )
What a sweet picture — he looks so peaceful.
Comment by Heather (March 24, 2006 @ 4:25 pm )
Oh, he is so beautiful!!! Thanks for posting the pics. He looks so cuddly. I know I would be sitting and snuggling with him all day. My blog would be my last priority.
P.S. I was wondering where my lost marble went. Could you please ship it back this way? I am in dire need of it. Its a good thing you have a rocket scientist to put that back together. Looks kind of intimidating. If your washer is out of commission to long, don’t forget the local creek. Yours shouldn’t be froze over like ours, but I suppose I would worry about an alligator or two. Going back to my own blog to behave myself. Thanks again for the pics. He is so cute.

What a sweet baby!!!
Call a maid to do the laundry and go cuddle the baby.
Enjoy your precious little bundle; they grow up o fast (and start playing with marbles!)

Have you tried vacuuming out dust and lint from the freezer? I don’t know how every fridge works, but my parents had a vent thing on the top of their fridge. Their icemaker went out and all they had to do was vacuum up the gunk the fridge sucked up. Of course, they found out about the vacuuming via 1 repair man and $100 later…

What a doll! I love it when babies so chubby and plump, and your little guy has just the right amount.
Comment by Amy (March 24, 2006 @ 5:56 pm )
Yes, but my bloodwork always comes back negative for anemia.
You must be a new reader.
:) He takes apart everything!!
Mailed it to KSMilkmaid. She’s missing a few, I hear. She has twins.
There isn’t any.
Seriously, he says that it’s not getting power (I think).
Yes, skinny babies won’t do. My #4 had tripled her birthweight by four months. This little guy is over the 10# mark as of early this week, so he’s doing just swell.
Comment by Amy Scott (March 24, 2006 @ 8:30 pm )
Oh Amy, could he be any sweeter?! I’m so happy for all of you. - Your birth story may have scared a few but the photos of your beautiful baby are an irrestible incentive.
Hope you won’t be twisting ice trays too much longer!

What an adorable little boy! I agree with the other poster. We should call them smooshies!

Our ice maker broke after the first month, and that was over ten years ago. My husband doesn’t take things apart. About four years ago I had someone take the icemaker out so I would have more freezer space, and I bought four more ice trays. It’s worked fine. But then, I live in the north. I suppose you need more ice in Florida.

Amy, that baby is too cute. I love chubby little babies - but, who doesn’t?
About the washer, I feel your pain. My husband is a police officer and after firearms school last week, he forgot to clean out his pockets (well, “forgot” is a euphemism here) and I heard a mighty clunking when the pants hit the dryer. Yes, a bullet was in his pocket. Luckily, no appliances were hurt.

Hello, I just found your blog, and very much enjoyed scrolling through it. Your son is beautiful. May God bless and encourage you… I’m not yet married, but my mother had five children under the age of seven once (and now she has twelve under the age of 23)… and believe me, we rise up and bless her for it. May the same be to you.
Love in Jesus,
Rachel

First off, congratulations on the baby!! He’s adorable!! Secondly, it looks like we have the same fabric on our couch! Ours is blue for the background….it sure looks similar to yours, LOL.

Charles is just too precious!
Your washing machine on the other hand……hmmmmm….
Still waiting at 39 weeks and 6 days…
Blessings,
Theresa

Oops…I am not anxious to be 40 weeks, am I? I am 38 weeks and 6 days! Not that you all are keeping track, but I just wanted to correct myself.
Comment by Theresa (March 28, 2006 @ 6:09 am )
We finally had our #5 (7 and under) and he came with the horrible hospital stories, too. But we are all home now and the Lord is good. We are truly blessed to have all of our little ones. Now I just wish that I could get myself back together!
Comment by Heather (March 28, 2006 @ 6:05 pm )
Congratulations, Heather.
You’ll be hearing those words soon enough too, Theresa, though I know that it feels like forever.
Nope!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, how sweet! Your son has to be the cutest baby boy I’ve ever seen (save my own, of course).
Comment by Mrs. Happy Housewife (April 2, 2006 @ 10:30 am )
What a dear baby! My husband is a mechanical engineer (rocket scientist wanna-be!), and so I too have seen my major appliances taken apart and put back together. We’re blessed, aren’t we?
Congrats on #5. My fifth “baby” is now four. He’s a bit spoiled.
