From one baseball mom to another...I'm with ya! We have three in baseball now and while it is very hectic, we love every minute of it. Our oldest is playing first base and the middle son (knicknamed "Chatter" by his coach...how appropriate!) is catching. Youngest ds is still in t-ball. I can't tell you how often dh and I have breathed a prayer of thanks..."Thank you they don't play soccer!" lol

Angela (who is headed to the baseball field now to sit in the wind and praying it doesn't rain!)

My son is a senior in high school and is the shortstop and pitcher on his team. He will probably play in college. We love baseball!!!! I love enjoying the outside and visiting with friends. It's a nice relaxing sport after the tension of basketball!

When it gets embarassing is when the other coach tells his batter to "Hit it to the right fielder" and it's your son in right field...

I loved reading this, and laughed too. I have 4 girls and just one son and have to agree with you on the boys vs. girls sports. I've only blogged about my son and sports once: http://live4truth13.blogspot.com/2006/03/number-44-for-six-years-44-was-my.html

You hit a nerve! Whether it's sports, academics, or what college our kids go to....parents must practice relinquishing control! It is our children's life...their responsibility is NOT to stroke our undeveloped self-esteem! One of the harder things I've done as a parent....is let my children's success be theirs...and their failures........theirs! Not there yet--but working on it daily. We respect our children when we let them be their own individual-ity.

Now that's not to say as a mom--we can't be jumping-up-and-down-happy for our childen! Or my-face-hurts-from-smiling-proud! And of course, when things don't go so well...we just get-on-our-knees and PRAY! It's what a mom does.

Good post today!

Unfortunatly in my town girls play baseball with the boys till they turn 10. So, my daughter, who is the least athlethic of my 4 kids, (other 3 are BOYS) is the one who pulls the team down a bit. Oh well, my 16 year old is star catcher...we LOVE baseball. Daughter will be a star cook!

Interesting.
I've known some girls interested in baseball when I was growing up.

In fact, our "back lot" team was more girls than boys.. Didn't realize girls weren't allwed though.

I recently asked my 6 year old daughter if she was interested in signing up for softball;she thought for a minute and then said "Sure, but I don't want to try to hit the ball." I asked why, she said, "Because I might hit myself in the face!" Needless to say, we didn't sign up for softball...
