Today my husband receives the third degree. No, I’m not nagging him again; he just graduates today with his third degree. Congratulations, Greg!
In honor of Father’s Day and all the men who won’t admit they read this site, I’m giving away a great book, Help! I’m Married to a Homeschooling Mom, courtesy of Familyman Ministries. I heard author Todd Wilson at the FPEA convention last month and enjoyed his seminar. The book is nice and thin, encouraging, and packed with funny cartoons. Guys will love it.

Here’s how it’s done: The drawing will be random on Saturday, June 17th. You can enter by email, comment, or link. You will be entered twice if you link, say something insightful, or otherwise do something else noteworthy. That’s it!

Blessings to you, Amy! And congratulations to your beloved! I love your blog. I’m interested, though, in the fact that very soon after you told me that you never published pictures of your family, you started doing it. Any particular reason? Have you and your hubby decided that it is more safe than you thought? Just curious. I’ve been having a bit of a debate with friends over how much info is safe to disclose.

I want to get in on the drawing. I want to be able to better understand what my home-schooling wife–mom of five goes through every day.
Thanks, Amy!

Oh ho! I’m already laughing at the cartoon you posted. My hubby would get a kick out of this for sure. Where was the author hiding in my house during that conversation?

Count me in on the drawing too. I always enjoy your musings!

Enter me in the contest please. We begin homeschooling this Fall and I’m sure my husband will love it - and hey, that will save me a Father’s Day gift, right?

My hubby got to hear him at our New Jersey convention. Funny though, he didn’t tell me one thing the man said. hmmm……
I love your blog.
Comment by Robin (June 16, 2006 @ 2:54 pm )
Oh well! I was going to enter for the book but since some men have responded, I guess it should go to them :o)
Congrats to your hubby! Now, off to listen to the sermon though I have to say I’ve heard a few preachers preach on the very same thing in my SBC. It’s always a blessing!
Have a great weekend!

Count me in…new to homeschooling this year.

I’m not entirely sure what you mean, as I’ve posted pictures (with my husband’s blessing) since the very beginning. Of course, I never imagined anyone would read this, other than a small circle of friends. I’m not sure there’s a way to go back, even if I did change my mind.
It’s my observation that with the billions of people on the internet, there are much easier prey than myself. Stalkers look for opportunity. It’s just my thought that local crooks are more of a danger (as is driving on the interstate, et al) than someone finding me on the internet. Our precautions are there in any case.
Each family must decide for themselves, and I understand the different conclusions that people come to.
Not yet. Just finished schoolwork this week! Yea! (Have I mentioned that I’m glad it’s over?)

Todd Wilson was at the GA convention this year too. I didn’t get to hear him because I was sitting on the edge of my seat listening to ‘Little Bear’ Wheeler pretend to be George Washington (or was he William Wallace that time?). I did, however, read Wilson’s cartoon book that was on the table at lunch and dh and I were laughing our heads off while everyone else looked through curriculum magazines. It was time well spent.

My lurking wife enjoys your blog very much.
I won’t admit to reading it, but I will admit to liking Adobo Chicken and Rice! I would love to be entered in the contest, even though we won’t start official homeschooling for four years or so.

I’d love to be entered in the contest… and I’ll link you as soon as my husband shows me how! Ha! Ha!

I must be the nosey one…What degree did your DH get?
My DH got his MBA while I was preg and dd was an infant. I always thought that there should be some kind of honorary award for supportive wives…
Kudos to *both* of you!

Amy,
My husband and I heard Todd Wilson in April 2005 at the MASSHOPE Convention. He, ahem, changed my life. I sheepishly confessed to my husband Todd’s suggestion to wives that they take advantage of booked hotel rooms to rekindle those matrimonial fires. Consequently, we welcomed Veronica Blythe on January 4. Like you, our fifth in less than eight years.
So, sign me up. I imagine Mr. Wilson is even funnier when one is sleep deprived.
Thanks,
Kathy in MA

The above post put a period on the end of the link to my website. It doesn’t work that way, so here it is again.

That looks like a great book!! Count me in on the draw. Since we are beginning the adventure of homeschooling this year, my sweet hubby would probably really enjoy a book like that!!
Thanks so much!!!

I’m entering! My husband will need this as he has no idea as to what is about to hit our family when we start homeschooling this fall. (Which is funny since it was initally his idea!)
Comment by Robin (June 17, 2006 @ 12:41 pm )
I heard Mr. Wilson at a convention a few years back, speaking to us homeschooling moms about how to “understand” our husbands. I carry with me every day his admonition to never, ever, ever, no matter what, criticize my dh’s choice of a parking spot. I didn’t realize how much I did that! I then, however, made the terrible decision to share with my husband Mr. Wilson’s advice, so now our entrance into any parking adventure brings a knowing look and a lot of muffled grunts. I’m thinking…no, the kids will hit that car with their door in that one…no, that’s miles away from the cart storage….hey, what was wrong with that one that you JUST PASSED for the third time? He’s thinking…there’s got to be one closer…there’s got to be one closer…closer…closer..nope, it’s a handicapped.
Small things, right? ; )

Hey Heather,
My dh is just the opposite. He parks in Timbuktu so he avoids all the stuff you talked about. That’s fine as long as its not raining! He always drops us off if it is though.

What’s w/all the weird spellings on your blog? Just wondering…
Comment by Wendy (June 19, 2006 @ 6:12 pm )
Okay, sorry! I was sure it was you, but it must have been someone else I read for awhile. I must’ve goofed!

I didn’t know that I spelled weird.
Comment by Amy (June 20, 2006 @ 5:01 pm )
Electrical Engineering, BSEE (I think)
Biblical Studies (Reformed Th. Seminary), Masters
Engineering Management, Masters
In that order!

Hi Amy, Sorry about the comment. You don’t spell weird… One day I checked your blog and several of the words had question marks and other things in them. Maybe it was just some computer glitch?
