Compliments of Faith and Family Books, I’m tossing a few more books your way—all for the price of sending a comment or an email. In other words, they’re FREE! Boy, I like that word.
The first book, Teardrop Diary, is not really a book in the traditional sense, but rather, “A journal with poetry for healing your heart after pregnancy loss.” The loss of a pre-born baby is a trying time; we’ve lost a pregnancy in both the first and second trimesters. Feel free to enter for yourself or for a friend.
The second book, A Celebration of Pregnancy, will teach you how to throw a God-honoring celebration for the mother-to-be. Tired of traditional baby showers? Are you hosting one soon? I especially liked the suggestion about all the scented candles. Yeah, baby.
And last but not least, Faith and Family Books threw in a short 14-page booklet titled, Rest For Weary Homeschool Moms. I probably don’t need to mention that I let the pasta boil over this afternoon while I was reading it. Honestly, I haven’t read a more succinct, theologically sound, and God-honoring talk on the subject before. It’s also worth reading if your children are in a traditional school setting.
Since only one of you will win the book, the rest of you need to go out and buy Rest For Weary Homeschool Moms (like, yesterday). Except— Rest For Weary Homeschool Moms is not for sale. If you place an order at Faith and Family Books, be sure to ask for a copy or use the contact form to see what they’re charging for shipping. I’m working on getting it to you another way, but write to Faith and Family Books in the meantime.
The fine print: If you choose to enter by leaving a comment, please leave one comment for each book you’d like to win. This makes the drawing easier for me. Tell a good joke and I’ll put you in twice. A link equals five entries this time. Contest ends Thursday at midnight. Happy entering.

Rest for Weary Homeschool Moms–boy do I need that!
My son just told me this one: what do you call a cross between a lion and a parrot?
I don’t know, but if he wants a cracker you better give it to him.

A Celebration of Pregnancy,
I would love to win this, as we have 6+ baby showers at church a year LOL. The puppy is adorable! Knox is a great name! xoxo melzie

Teardrop Diary-that’s the one I need. I have had two miscarraiges since my husband’s vasectomy reversal last October. It has been a challenging year to say the least.

I’d love the copy of the Teardrop Diary to give to my sister-in-law. She has been trying to have a baby for quite a while. We were so excited when we both got pregnant at the same time and were expecting within a few weeks of each other. My baby is now nine months old, she lost hers at three months. It was devastating for her. This summer we were thrilled when she again became pregnant. Unfortunately, her husband was seriously injured in a para-sailing accident and while he was having back surgery she started bleeding and lost the baby a week later. Needless to say she has a lot of tears right now.

Sweet!!! I’m at Bible school, and I can’t comment on any blogs I read that are Blogger-based, but yours I can!!! I’m happy. I was feeling rather cut off from my online world, though I’m just a “lurker.”
I’m interested in the Teardrop Diary book for my friend, because she’s had 3 miscarriages and has yet to carry a child to full term. Her last baby was 5 months along when complications set in.
The “A Celebration of Pregnancy” book sounds good though too, because several other ladies I know have just had babies!

Drop my name in the hat for ‘A Celebration of Pregnancy’. We are always looking for alternatives to the whole everyone sit around and bogle the poor mom to be while she oohs and aahs over everything from diapers to cd’s. Something with soem meaning and a twist would be so great! I help plan and host the baby showers at our chuch, and we are in the midst of a boom! And one of the new boom is me! =)
Knox is adorable, by the way. Soon, I do believe, your husband’s puppy love will spill over into your own heart!

A Celebration of Pregnancy
This book sounds like a must have! At our church, we have a baby shower for every baby born and there are always, on average, 5-7 expecting moms at a time! I even read one of your blogs at one I hosted recently!

The Teardrop Diary
I am the mother of a stillborn (Grant would be 4.5 years old) and I have a small ministry that I would love to include this in - it is a carebox for the family of a stillborn that they receive at the hospital. Right now, it is only one box on Grant’s birthday but I am hoping to be able to do more boxes (as funding allows) in the future.
Have a blessed day,

I would love Rest for Weary Homeschool Moms! Thank you for the great contest! And, I linked the contest to my blog!!
Oh, and a joke… here’s one my six year old told me from a corn growers flyer we picked up at our local Home and Garden Show this week:
How does the rooster wake up Cornelius Corn?
With a “Cob-A-Doodle-Doo”
Haaaa haa haaaa!
Do I get extra credit for a second joke? Here goes:
What does Cornelius Corn’s son call him?
Pop Corn
Haaaaaa haaa haaaa! Too funny, right?

A good friend is pregnant with her 6th. We want to do a shower for her. (Not the usual fare, though–I’m talking hiring a maid to clean her house a few times, that kinda stuff…)
anyway, I’m in the running for the Preg. celebrations!

The Teardrop Diary
I’d like to let you use my entry as an entry for Dana(dana.lifewithchrist.org) (see her comment above). We have three lots of friends that have had late term preg loss or stillbirth or SIDS. Dana’s thoughtfulness to do a box for other partents sounds like a tremendous blessing.
My joke/funny for another entry on behalf of Dana:
A little girl was sitting on her grandfather’s lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again. Finally she spoke up, “Grandpa, did God make you?”
“Yes, sweetheart,” he answered, “God made me a long time ago.”
“Oh,” she paused, “Grandpa, did God make me too?”
“Yes, indeed, honey,” he said, “God made you just a little while ago.”
Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, “God’s getting better at it, isn’t he?”

oh, here’s my joke.
2 older couples were taking an evening stroll. The men were quite a ways ahead as the women were enjoying the scenery and chatting up a storm. One of the men was describing the wonderful restaurant he and his wife had dined at the night before.
“What’s the name of the restaurant?”, his friend asked.
“Ummmm… having a seniors moment here… what’s the name of that flower that smells so good but has thorns?”
“Do you mean a rose?”
“Yeah.. Hey Rose”, he yelled back to his wife, “What’s the name of the restaurant we ate at last night?”
Some of us aren’t seniors but we still have those moments.

Teardrop Diary.
I have one friend who has lost 3 babies in 5 months–2 at the end of the first trimester, and 1 due to an ectopic pregnancy.
I have another friend who just miscarried at 14 weeks after trying to get pregnant for 1.5 years unsuccessfully.
I would love to see this book and give it to one of them; if it seems appropriate, I may also buy one for the other.

I’d love to read Rest for the Weary Homeschool Mom. I’ve been at it a loooooong time. My homeschooled-all-the-way older children are 23 and 20 and there are still four at home, all boys, three of them in high school. Just thinking about the planning makes my brain tired! Add on sports, ministry, laundry, food- you get the picture. I also love to encourage younger homeschooling moms so this sounds like a great book for that purpose.
The first joke my husband ever told me….
Two peanuts were walking down the road and one was a salted.
Thanks for the great blog. If my computer challenged brain can figure it out, I’ll post a link on my blog

Here’s a joke for ya
One summer evening during a violent thunderstorm a mother was tucking her small boy into bed. She was about to turn off the light when he asked with a tremor in his voice,
“Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?” The mother smiled and gave him a reassuring hug.
“I can’t dear,” she said.
“I have to sleep in Daddy’s room.” A long silence was broken at last by his shaky little voice:
“The big sissy.”

And here are two more funnies. Please put my name in for the weary homeschool mom booklet. Thanks. A new favorite: Doctor called a plumber for service. Plumber fixed the problem in a few minutes and charged $100. Doctor says, “One humdred dollars! I’m a doctor and I don’t make that kind of money.” Plumber replied, “I didn’t make that kind of money when I was a doctor either.”

This one is from our boys: A woman visited an art museum. While there, she commented to the curator, “Is this one of the hideous disgraces you call modern art?” He replied, “No ma’am. That is called a mirror.”

This is no joke and you don’t have to enter me. It’s a REAL HONEST question. I *could not* figure out how to get around the books on the site that gave you the books? Is there some trick to it? Since you lead me to it, I thought you might know and want to help! Even if it is just the OBVIOUS and I am obviously tired, could you tell me if they have an online store, or if I have to order a catalog first? Just spell it out for this weary mom who does NOT want to read about rest for the weary mom -
it won’t apply to me for another few years at least when my head stops spinning!

A couple of hints to navigating:
Our books are actually located in our shopping cart. All that means is that the shopping cart tab at the top of the home page is where you enter to view our inventory. There you can choose the category that interests you to the left of the screen. Then you will be able to browse through the books we carry. To view the description of the book, click on the title of the book. Once you make a choice to buy, click on add to cart which will then take you to what you have in your cart. It will then give you the choice of continue to shop, exit or checkout.

I am struggling with whether I need to pull my 6th grade son out of public school and homeschool him this year. It will be an agonizing year, either way. He does not want to be homeschooled, but he is not doing well organizationally at public school, and I can’t fix it without going to school with him every day to find out what he is supposed to be doing (wouldn’t it be easier to just teach him at home?). Also, I am very concerned about the way they are teaching math now and have pretty much determined that I need to teach him math at home anyway. So I am weary just contemplating this. I don’t know if I have it in me to do it.

Rest For The Weary Homeschool Mom
God was up in Heaven wondering what was going on down on earth so He sent an angel to check things out. The angel reports back, “It’s pretty bad down there. 95% of the people are doing bad and only 5% are doing good.” God has a hard time believing this so He sends a second angel for another opinion. The second angel comes back and says, “It’s true. 95% of the people are bad and only 5% are good.” So God decides He is going to send an e-mail to the 5% to encourage them. And do you know what the e-mail said??? You don’t?? Neither do I, I didn’t get the e-mail either.

Q: If a mime gets arrested, do the police tell him he has the right to remain silent?
Q: If you melt dry ice and swim in it, do you get wet?

Please enter me for A Celebration of Pregnancy.
This would be awesome. My husband is a young church planter and I’ve been functioning as the chief shower hostess for the ladies in our church. I would love to learn what I can do better!

I would also like to be considered for a Celebration of Pregnancy.
Here’s the funniest joke I know:
There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can do math and those who can’t.

Please enter me for Teardrop Diary.
Sounds like this book might encourage a few ladies I know.

And, for my sweet sister-in-law who recently started her second year as a homeschool mom, Please enter me for Rest for Weary Homeschool Moms.
Thanks for the great blog, Amy. It’s both enjoyable and challenging!

I would like to enter for Teardrop diary. My mother had two miscarriages after myself (they would be fourteen and eleven now, I think) and still gets choked up about it sometimes. I think it would be appreciated by her. I might even get something out of it as well, as I look forward to having a family one day but have had to consider that both she and my aunt had multiple miscarriages, and that I might have the same problem someday if it is something genetic in our family.

I would also like to enter for Celebration of Pregnancy. I have three friends that I went to high school with, who have been married in the last year and a half (and one already has a son!), so there’s no telling that this might come in handy!

Thanks Amy for entering me in the contest for Rest for Weary Homeschool Moms. I also provided a link on my blog to your blog. I hope others enjoy reading your blog as much as I do!

How fun!
Put me in for the teardrop book, I have also had 1st and 2nd trimester miscarriages, and my daughter and daughters-in-law have also had 0ne or more miscarriages.
My Joke:
A mother and her three small children were driving on a beautiful sunny day. The “lady” in the convertible ahead of them stood up and waved…in her birthday suit! The mother was totaly horrified, unable to speak! The six year old in the back seat hollered, “Mommie, that lady isn’t wearing her seat-belt!!”

Also enter me for the weary home-school mom book. Home-school is long ago for me, but my daughter, Jenni, is just beginning!
My late father’s joke: (He was my pastor for nearly 40 years, until shortly before his death)
Some traveling painters make an offer the pastor couldn’t refuse to paint the little country church. To make it profitable for themselves, they added water to the paint. Just as they finished, lightening flashed, thunder rolled, and rain came in a down-pour. When it finished raining, the paint had all washed away. Then there was another clap of thunder and a loud voice from heaven demanded, “Repaint, you Thinners!”

I would love the rest for a weary homeschool mom. Yesterday was quite a day! My 3rd grader was in the depths of despair and insisted she couldn’t do her work. We battled the tears and strong-willedness for a couple of hours at least. While this was going on my almost 3 year old pees on the baby’s bassinet and then poops in the living room and while that is going on my 3 month old is crying having awoken from her nap!
Plus I have 2 friends who have decided to homeschool for the first time. One seem a bit overwhelmed.
Thank you,
April
