After two years with the same host, I’ve finally switched. You might have noticed (or not) that this site has experienced quite a bit of downtime. I hope the new host will keep us up and running. We’re also using the latest version of WordPress now. I like the new features, but I’m still tweaking things. Don’t be tempted by that casino spam that’s slipping through! You must resist.
I’m sorry about all the pings if you read by a feed. Valerie is working on it today, so there might be some more glitches until it gets worked out. I’d appreciate a comment if you have a second to let me know of anything else that’s not working correctly. It’s helpful if you can include a note about which browser you’re using. Thanks.

Hi Amy,
I don’t see any problems. Every thing looks the same as always.
I use Safari (for Macs)

Looks alright. I use Firefox and IE7. Right now I’m looking through IE.

with IE7, I see your background as white only halfway down the first post. it then turns gray like the sidebar, and the border disappears. not that annoying–it’s still readable–but not very aesthetically pleasing and not what you’re going for. fyi.

Hello, Amy (last commenter here). Would you happen to be using Comcast with IE7? I see the same thing you mention in IE7, and I let Comcast “update” the browser. It drives me wacky that I haven’t been able to fix that, I’d like to figure out at least what browser setups it’s limited to.

I’m so happy you made the switch! I can finally read the comments! I’m not sure what all that IE7(?) business is all about….but what ever you did don’t go back!

Wow! I can read your post, read comments, and if this goes through I can even comment! Rarely do those 3 things all happen on the same attempt, let alone on the same day! I like it!

Amy:
I read Jolly Blogger every day and today he posted about Wordpress getting hacked. I don’t know if that effects you but just in case you can read about it here http://foolishsage.com/2007/03/05/wordpress-hacked/

spooky…as a matter of fact I AM on Comcast!

It is spooky . . . almost. I had tested Amy’s site on several computers using IE. And mine was the only one showing the mentioned quirk, and mine was the only one that was using Comcast’s software.
Past experience has also taught me that ISPs offering “Free software” have a particular fondness for altering IE’s browser (and oftentimes other Windows configurations on your hard drive). It’s the reason I learned to configure my computer manually whenever I got a new ISP and avoided using their software. (It can be difficult to discover all of what they change.)
Anyway, I went ahead and loaded Comcast’s offerings, since it was Cable and not the usual Dial-Up stuff, it’s a different “animal” and I figured it would be best to have the changes it might make. Also, I wanted to take advantage of their free Anti-virus software and the like and I thought it might make it all simpler for me. Besides, I rarely use IE (I usually use FF), so their changes don’t bother me so much. It turned out to be a good thing since it allowed me to see what you see and at least narrow the problem down to a Comcast “thing.”
