Update

It’s hard to believe it has been a whole week since I put up that last post. Thank you to all of you thinking and praying for Amy (and the rest of us) and for all of the well-wishes. We’re hanging in there, though it has been a bit of a challenge to balance everything.
I think I’m doing OK keeping up with the house and kids, though I am certainly no Amy! You can still walk through the place without tripping over clutter (well sometimes). We’re not starving yet, thanks mostly to a couple of friends from Church who have provided us with some delicious nutrition. Special thanks to Tracey for bringing over two meals this week, unsolicited (Tracey has commented here a few times). The chicken was especially delicious! The kids loved it, it is all gone, and I even have your dishes washed and ready to give back to you. See you Sunday.
I’ve even tackled laundry mountain and conquered it - though I have to admit that Amy felt well enough last night to fold the entire stack.
Really, yesterday was a good day. I called home from work and a rather energetic, cheerful, lively voice answered. I thought I had a wrong number. Alas it was Amy. She made it out of bed and down stairs three times, which is more than the number of times she was out of bed for the entire week before. My optimistic self was ready to declare that she was on the road to recovery.
Today, however, is a different story…
Now, where did I put that electro-shock thingy??

Hooray for a break from the misery! So sorry it didn’t last, but at least it gives a glimmer of hope for brighter days to come.

We’ll keep praying. It’s always nice when the folks from church help with meals. We’ve never had a bad meal that way…

I continue to be impressed by the Scott family! So glad to hear she might be through the worst of it….maybe.
Laundry mountain, indeed! That is a veritable Everest!

Glad to hear Amy (and all of you) had a day of reprieve, I still vote for finding a nice homeschooled young lady who would like to serve your family. Almost ten years ago, I had some medical issues and a family from our church called to offer their then-17-year-old daughter to come help. She was a Godsend for us in many ways. She has since come to help after the birth of three more children and has remained a dear friend to our whole family. I was blessed with the help and her friendship and caught a vision for how my daughters might be able to serve others in the future. My children were blessed to see how a young adult shoould be and what service and selflessness looks like from a new angle, as well as gaining an older ‘wiser’ friend to walk with. Our friend was blessed to see the reality of young, growing family life and continues to tell me that the Lord used her times of service to our family to teach her much and prepare her to run her own home (which, incidentally, she just began doing in January).

It is wonderful to hear that your friends are ministering to you at this time! I know you must be very grateful! I am praying Amy will get over the all day sickness soon.

With six children of my own I have never had a hint of sickness. I have wondered why some women get so sick and others, like myself, get through it well. I am so sorry that Amy has not been feeling well.
I hope that life at the Scotts will soon be back to “normal”.
Blessings & Prayers!

I just found your website and had to tell you I’ll send my prayers. I’m just emerging from a 4 month bout of morning/all day/all the time/ morning sickness. I’ll keep Amy and your whole family in my prayers.

Hey, maybe this time you’re blessed with twins? That could explain the extra sickness….or just an extra lively one. Congrats and hang in there!

Great update! And great to hear that Amy had a “good day” yesterday! Praise the Lord!!! So sorry to hear that today has been hard again!! Praying for ya’ll! Sounds like the Lord, in His kindness, has given MUCH grace!!! Thankful to hear that, and look forward (with you) to the joy this sickness will produce in the fall! : )

I struggled with daily morning sickness, sometimes for seven months. I wished it away, and swore it away, but it didn’t go. Until one day (in each pregnancy) when it suddenly stopped, and I absolutely panicked! I found myself wishing it would come back, knowing that it was a sign that all was going well. All did go well, as I continued on my emotional roller-coaster ride to a safe and happy delivery!
Best of luck! It’s a long road, but you know it’s worth it! I’ll pray!!

I am sorry to hear about Amy’s morning sickness. I too had horrible morning sickness to the point I had to be hospitalized. have ya’ll tried ginger beer. It’s not an alcoholic drink! Usually it can be found at a health food store. If not, try making ginger tea by soaking freshly grated ginger root in hot water and then straining the tea through a cheese cloth. I hope this helps and will pray for Amy.

Continued prayers going up for the Scott family, especially Amy and little baby. Keep up the great work, sir, you are ministering in love to your wife and that is commendable.

Scared me! Sorry. I had to read down a couple of posts for a change of heart.
I think that I posted the following here a few years ago:
My wife dropped to 96 pounds with baby #1, down to 83 pounds with #2. #3 was not as bad because of what she learned from #2.
She was so sick with #2 that she could not hold down water. She spent 5 days in the hospital with I.V.’s to receive fluids and was scheduled to receive a feeding tube.
What she did is stop, as much as possible, swallowing her saliva and started spitting it into facial tissues. She carried around a plastic trash bag and box of facial tissues everywhere that she went.
It might seem like a strange idea, but it worked for her.
(James 5:14-15) “14 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.”

Hello-
I’ve recently found your blog and LOVE it. God bless you and your family.
My suggestion on morning sickness - Big Red gum. It isn’t a cure-all but certainly helps. Juicy Fruit works pretty good, too. I have to admit, after my last pregnancy, I haven’t chewed much gum. But, it did get me through the really hard weeks. I will pray for you and your family!

Article on severe morning sickness here. I doubt it gives you any more information than you already know, but it might be of interest.
