A long time ago my husband and I bought a house without ever having been inside (it had been boarded up for 5 years). The thought was that if we didn’t like where the walls were we’d change them And we did have to - it had been made into a two unit and we converted it back to one. We could stand in the attic and look all the way through to the basement because of water damage. That’s an “overhaul”

I am so over remodeling! I can barely get up the energy to redecorate, and I mean changing the dusty stuff on the mantle. I may need to get pregnant just so the nesting urge visits me. My house needs a nester.

I chuckled at your son’s donut comment. Having recently relocated and been faced with finding a new church, donuts have become an important part of how each church rates…in our kid’s eyes at least. When we asked one ds what he thought of his experience at Church X, he replied, “It was OK. I liked my class, but they didn’t have any donuts.”

Too funny about the “remodling”! My husband and I have been looking at investment houses a long time and always run into the “yes, it only needs a little redecorating, or updating”. Which, of course is why the sellers are asking prices close to what it would be when the work was all done.

When we get inside the house, we find out that what the sellers really mean is “I hope you brought a match & some gasoline because it will be cheaper to burn it down and start over!” Every. Single. Time.

I wish I couldn’t relate.

I wish I weren’t headed back into a house overhaul. But I am. And of course, I am always pregnant too. No change there.

My worse remodel story involves a tri-level house, with ALL three bathrooms torn out during a plumbing overhaul. Throw in a potty training two year old, the flu for the entire family, and a Mommy who is 8 months pregnant. Oh. Company coming in less than a week, too.
