First pitch

My favorite part about baseball life is that Greg takes all the kids to practice. This means that at scheduled times each week, I get blessed peace and quiet for a couple hours. Now, sports have a way of ruining families and tearing them in all different directions. As for us, it keeps us together. I’m so nice -–I mean, refreshed– when they get home.
It’s also good for homeschooled boys who are around their mothers and sisters all day to hear, “Now throw that ball or get off my field! This isn’t Little League, son!”
Just for fun, here’s a video of our favorite player pitching his first game:

Amy,
I’m quite sure that if I knew anything at all about baseball I would be impressed by that.
Is it the gum chewing that makes them so good then?

I haven’t figured out that ‘husband takes all the kids thing…” I think that is because my husband helps coach and can’t do that with little ones holding on to his pant legs.
Amy, you mentioned a post about epidurals a while back… Any further thoughts about writing about your thoughts on epidurals? By the way, have you read the Bradley book about natural childbirth? My all natural friends have loved this method. I don’ know a lot about it, but I just ordered it. I want to see what they have to say- I’m also doing a good bit of research in prep for my fifth delivery- my due date in next month.
Blessings-

Thanks for sharing the video; looks like you’ve got a quite a pitcher on your hands!

They are playing on a softball field…

Anonymous - quite right and very astute. There were about 8 different tournaments going on at the same time on the other fields in the complex. Unfortunately, the U8 gang doesn’t get the primo fields.

Last week I was very busy with a kids club where I live. This week Sean is at is Sailing club and is away from 9.30 to 4.30. I am planing to spend time with other sisters in the Lord that I normally don’t see too much of, to catch up on Bible study am currently doing with Church and spending time with me, myself, I!!! (Not so sure if this is how it will work out but I can dream!!) Like the video/. Am always fascinated by American sport. The kids look so cute though!

By the way, Sean wants to know which one is your son? The boy throwing the ball or the boy hitting it? We really know nothing about this sport!

Yeah for quiet time mom! I’m sure you are very proud of the pitcher.

What is it about baseball? Within seconds after pushing “Play” on that video my 3 year old son was at my elbow, rapt with attention.
Great video.
So focused, that son of yours!

Stacey,
My six year old son did the same thing! Where were my girls? It’s gotta be a boy thing.

I got three more requests this week for the epidural post I promised so haphazardly. I am sorry! I’ve just put it aside for the time being. One, to read more. Two, lack of computer time, sickness, etc. I hammered out the last post very quickly, and I try to write when I’m motivated.
Yes, I read the Bradley book several pregnancies ago. I’m finding the information in Childbirth Without Fear to be more helpful–to me anyway, just because the medical knowledge is truly what I need in particular. (This is probably not the case for most people; I’m just very thirsty for knowledge right now. Yes, I knew that this was a normal event, but understanding the biology of it all is causing my anxiety to melt bit by bit.) I can’t just relax–I have to know why.
Yes.
Ruth, The pitcher is the guy throwing the ball and chewing all the gum.
No, I usually go to games, but this was our first out-of-town game, and I stayed home with the baby.

Enjoyed visiting, came from Chasing the Wind. I love the baseball video! And what planet is Ruth from not knowing who the pitcher is??
Great writings here, I’ll come back again.

[...] Most of you know that my oldest son plays baseball. I wanted him to play the piano, but he likes baseball and not the piano. He plays Little League in the spring and fall. In the summer and winter, he plays in a competitive league. That’s a lot of baseball, but that’s also a lot of peace and quiet for the mom in the house. [...]
