The last sentence written by my email buddy, Stacey, went like this, “So, are you going to have another baby naming contest on your blog and then just go off and name the baby whatever you want again?”
OK. I realize that was pretty lousy of me, but my #5 is in real good with his grandfather. (He is named after him, which were none of the suggestions.) If it’s any consolation, I will name our next one the top contending name in the old comment boxes…if it’s a boy.
I’d like to point out that you guys named our dog. I’m just saying.

So does this mean you’re having a girl?

I just went and ready your dog naming post and had to tell you that all our children are named after “dead theologians”. They are Knox, Dabney (girl), Warfield, Gillespie & Rutherford (due any day). Our Van Til representative will be a girl (Lord willing) and will be named “Tillian”. We have friends that named their boy Kase (sp?) which was Van Til’s nickname, I guess.

Dear Miss Amy,
I wanted to make a comment about the young mother/baby story. My contention is that government intervention is
a big factor in this incident…
Way back when, when I was a young mother, the baby carrier was in the front seat — right beside me. I could reach my child easily, we could see each other… Now, they put the babycarerier behind the front seat, facing away, towards the back.
This, of course, is because of air bags, which are deadly to infants — and pretty harmful to most adults as far as I can see when coming across bruised and battered individuals that have been in combat with one.
It all started with seat belts strapping you in so you can’t reach out and swat anyone behind you if needed. Government has tried to fix parenting… as they are so much better at it ie. welfare. I know all theses rules and regulations were made in the name of safty but do we really need someone looking over our shoulder, keeping us safe all the time? Can’t we be responsible, intellegent, committed parents and do the job ourselves? For some reason, at the age of 28, I thought I could. And fourty years later, I still think I can when it comes to the care of grandchildren.
Just my thoughts. Cost you a quarter [inflation, you know]
Miss Meg

I’ll suggest a boy’s name. How about George? It means “farmer” and since that is what you guys will be getting into…
My first son is George and my second is Harold (Harry). The baby I’m pregnant will probably be another boys and I am thinking of Charles or William.

Thanks, we can always use more baby names.
Can never be sure…we just know that we have a boy’s name but not a girl’s name. I can confirm that it isn’t twins though!

Ahhhh- my number 2 is due in 6 weeks and I asked people for name suggestions (but did not tell the gender- mean I know) Some I liked, others were like ‘no way’! But I never told anyone I would def use their suggestions
A poll would be fun I suppose- we have certainly found it hard to make a short list and even now are not sure….and then the is always the possibility that the sonographer got the gender wrong……..
