I am just curious if you buy your “cooked, cubed boneless chicken in my freezer” at the grocery store. Or if you have cooked and cubed in advance.

I buy it in 15-20 pound increments and then spend one afternoon cooking and cubing.

The recipe looks great. I am just curious if you buy your "cooked, cubed boneless chicken in my freezer" at the grocery store. Or if you have cooked and cubed in advance.

Looks like a good, hearty soup for our Lenten study/soup supper. I'll test it on the family first, of course. Thanks.

Thanks for the encouragement about family meals! I grew up in a home where mealtimes were the highlights of our days, and I've been a little sad to see how hard it is to pull that together now that I'm the mother of the family. Maybe in a few years. . . so far our children are 2 weeks, 2 and 4. Maybe we really will get to "the fun part" someday!

Thanks for this lovely and encouraging post. I am going to copy out that list of questions for night time devotions.
Love
Amanda Axelby
P.S I totally understand about wanting to change your name. I heard a while back that the term ,mother, is a calling not a name, so maybe you're safe.

Eating together is very important to our family as well. We have outgrown our tiny diningroom table. It seats four and we are a family of six. We have two round four seaters in our home. What we to do is put them together in the kitchen or the dining room in order to eat as a family. We are improvising until next year when we will be down to one debt, and then we will buy a used larger table. Your post are very thought provoking.

Hmm, Amy, it sounds like you have your appetite back somewhat...(jambalya and cheesecake??!)

I have to agree (of course) about the Family table. It's a well-kept tradition here in my home. My husband also leaves for work early at 6 am so he can make it home in time for all of us to have dinner together at 6:30 pm. (yes, it's a looong day.) But we all make sacrifices for the good of things, don't we?

As for "done", I'd say I *wish* dinner was 5:30 pm here. That'd be perfect!!

Your blog looks lovely.
I'm a New Orleans girl and I use almost equal amounts (lots) of onion, bell pepper and celery (the holy trinity of Creole cooking!) Other than that, I haven't heard of Jambalaya with beans, but it would be an interesting addition, I think.

We always eat together around here, wouldn't know how to NOT eat together. We are sad that 4 days out of the week our oldest is working and unable to share dinner with us.
