Legal help needed

We need a real estate attorney in the Bristol, Virginia area. If you know of someone you’d recommend, please reach me using the contact form.
We own two houses consisting of seven rental units. Over the years, we’ve lost several grand due to being unable to collect judgments we’ve won in court. Trust me, for a lady who clips coupons, it’s painful. But it’s all chump change now. Today we’ve entered into a Pacific Heights situation. I know many blog readers live in Bristol so give me a ring if you have any leads, OK?

If you can’t find one through a friend you might trying calling your State Bar Association. They can make recommendations for you.

My dad, the lawyer (in AZ) would say, “Don’t blog it, whatever it is.”
God bless…whatever it is.

How terrible. I agree with commenter #2. . . Don’t blog it!
I have a lot of examples of how similar situations have been taken care of here in Arkansas. One involves a small lake with lots of alligators (Just kidding) but I think a lawyer is your best bet.
Don’t get one like they got on Pacific Heights!

Oh man. I’m dying to tell everyone I know (but I’m taking your advice and putting a cork in it). The landlord business isn’t for the faint of heart.
Our first month of landlording four years ago, we had the following situations: stolen money, two death threats, and the city threatened to shut us down completely due to a technicality.
It’s funny because we thought that was a huge deal back then…

Lots of readers from Bristol? Will they speak up? I have friends in the area and wonder if I might recognize a name or two…

This is so random! I grew up in Bristol and my parents still live there.
He is now a Commonwealth’s Attorney and I am not sure if he is taking on regular case type things, but I recommend Jerry Wolfe.

You live in Bristol?? I didn’t know that! That is my neck of the woods! I’ve lived in surrounding towns in TN and VA. We now live in Montana (military) and we miss it so much. We’re coming for a visit in May. Oh to be back in the mountains. That whole area is how I picture Heaven.

Hi Amy,
We have used PrePaid Legal for many legal issues, it’s a small monthly fee and certain services are unlimited. My husband knows more than me but if you are interested, this might be a good solution for you and would also help with your lease agreement. You can email me if you’d like more information! We have been members for 9 years and have used them for many things including our will, traffic tickets, document review, and unlimited phone consultations. We really like it.
I really enjoyed reading your post on birth control and all the comments. I thought I was struggling with this alone but after all the comments, I see I am not!

We live in Florida, but we have two investment houses in Virginia.

Amy,
We also did this for years. I grew up on the Jersey Shore. We had rental units (shutter). I am glad to be out. I had to tell you I appreciate your humor, classic. Pacific Heights!!! I nearly spit my tea out when you talked about Greg’s job. That you have never really seen his place of work. I have never seen my husband’s either. He is a chemist for a major Pharmaceutical company working in development. They are worse then the CIA! Yet, he maybe at Starbucks with Greg!!! LOL!!! I would not be able to find the place if I had to. I have talked with many of his co-workers over the years becoming very friendly. Although, I would not know them on the street! Too much!! We always tease him about his job. Three of my brothers are police officers State and Local. Your immediate family including sibling have to be checked out. My husband’s background check always gets kicked out. He has a high security clearance from NATO. He was station there while in the service. The police background checker and our family want to know what he did, he does not tell us. The Fed’s must find out being my brothers have jobs LOL!! Maybe a sniper turned Starbuck drinking day trader! What a hoot!!
